Arnica Montana is a perennial herb that is indigenous to Central Europe. The medicinal part of this plant is its flowers. Arnica cream, gel or tincture is reserved for topical use only. It can be used externally to treat symptoms of injury such as bruises, sprains, strains, sore muscles from over exertion and closed fractures. Topical forms should only be used on undamaged skin and not be applied on mucous membranes. Arnica is specifically indicated to treat muscle soreness that has a bruised sensation.
While Arnica creams, gels and tinctures are indicated for topical/external use only, Homeopathic Arnica pellets can be used internally. Arnica has a unique mode of action and is a safe first choice to reduce pain, swelling and bruising. Arnica is an acute and first aid remedy and should not be used long term. Remember to include Arnica in your fist aid kit, it is an often used remedy around our house.
