An article published today in the Washington Post talks about a study comparing conventional and organic California strawberry farms, the study reveals that organic farms leave the soil in a healthful state while producing berries that are more flavorful and nutritious. The comprehensive study also discovered that the organic berries had a longer shelf life than their conventional counterparts. Conventionally grown strawberries can have up to 13 different kinds of pesticides and the Environmental Working Group ranks them near the top of their Dirty Dozen list of produce that retains their pesticide residue. Just another reason to buy organic!
