While this summer has recorded the hottest temperatures around the globe, here in the Bay Area, we are experiencing the coolest summer in many years. To quench our thirst we remember to drink water on hot days, but on the cooler days we often forget to hydrate our body. Whether it is hot or cold outside, your body still requires water to function. Up to 60% of the human body is water and it is essential to life.
A 130 lb person should be drinking at least 65 ounces of water on a daily basis, your level of activity, the temperature and humidity all increase the need for more water. Water is essential to the chemistry of life. Without proper hydration, our bodies are not able to break down fats, proteins and sugar properly to be used as fuel for energy production.
Do you make it point to keep yourself hydrated through the day?
